OWH VCMP #14 and #8

Challenge #14 was a winter love card. "Warm winter wishes" counts, right? I got this retired set off eBay a couple weeks ago and just started playing with it tonight. That Eskimo stumps me. Black's too harsh, colors look weird. What color do I stamp him? Do I stamp multiple colors and hope to piece it together? Anyone have any suggestions?

For now, I stamped in gray because it was neither too harsh nor a odd non-human color (just imagine him in teal- yikes). The penguin is really cute and I know I'll use him more. I used the snowflake stamp from the set to jazz up the card base and added some punched snowflakes to highlight the popped sentiment.

I'm also going to count this as my "scene" card for challenge #8 because the penguin, Eskimo, and snowflakes make a scene in my book.

OWH VCMP #3

This challenge asked us to make a Christmas card using non-traditional colors (read: no red or green). I opted for shades of blue, which might be cheating, since blue is a winter go-to color.

Ciara's Challenge

I am not a dog person. Given the choice between cats and dogs, then I'd be a dog person. But really, with my allergies and aversion to even my own stray hairs, pets aren't my thing. I like occasionally getting nuzzled by a friend's pooch or having a friend's kitty scratch its back on my shoe, but that's it. Never had pets, never will. All that said, I completely lost it over the story that Ciara shared with us. Get a box of Kleenex before you read it. And get ready to cuddle your furry friend.

These stamps are all from the same set by Studio 112, with the exception of the large paw print which is from Scrappy Cat. The ribbon is from Offray, I think.

OWH VCMP #16 and #12

One tag, one chipboard, and one button for challenge #16. Without stacking them all up and making a mountain, I was a little, OK, a lot stumped. I never use chipboard on cards because I worry it will be too thick or will fall off because it is heavy.

I remembered some cool transportation chipboard circles I had and thought they would be great elements on a card for a toddler boy to get from his deployed hero. That makes it great for the "Daddy's Child" challenge- #12

The chipboard is from Michael's. I think it was a dollar bin item about two years ago. The stamp is from Studio G at Michael's this summer. The button? Who knows?!?

OWH VCMP #6

This challenge asked for a masculine paper pieced birthday card. Surveying my 1500 or so stamps, I realized I didn't have anything good for this challenge. What a shame! In lieu of a trip to the store, I chose this cute turtle and paper pieced him. This might not be a manly card, but I think it would be at least unisex. I had a student in my class last year who had a pencil case named "Mr. Turtle" that was colored just like this. :)

The stamps are from Studio 112 and are all from the same set. The inside says simply, "Happy Birthday!" Papers from my stash are likely from American Crafts, DCWV, and Pebbles, Inc.

OWH VCMP #15

Black and white with a splash of color? Don't mind if I do. I had used some of these patterned papers a week or two ago along with red cardstock to make some nice cards. Today I decided to use teal since it was on my desk from another card. The papers are from Making Memories and the stamp is from Studio 112 by K & Co.

OWH VCMP #4 &11

Pick a Number: I picked #18, my birthday, for Julie's challenge. The sketch stumped me at first, so I decided to go with a CAS version. I kept the accent squares plain and just used a sentiment in the largest rectangle. The stamp is by Fiskars.

CAS: Normally I think of CAS as having lots of white space. This one has lots of purple space, but I think it's still CAS.
