FWF Friday the 13th

Howdy!  Happy Friday the 13th.  I hope you're having a lucky day!

Friday means Friends with Flair, so here's a little Unity to share!  I've been having fun recently with these scrappy quilt backgrounds.  They're easy and a fun way to use some patterns that might be hard to use on a card in larger pieces.
Stamps: Unity Stamp Company (Eco Chic flower and a freebie sentiment)
Papers: DCWV Fall and Halloween Stack 2011, cardstock from stash
Embellishments: MM eyelets
Tools: Crimper, eyelet setter
Coloring: Copics
Other: Curvy rectangles are cut with a Cricut and were received in a swap.  Thanks, Laura!

Grateful

Have you seen the newest OWH challenge?  This time around the theme is half Fall/Winter and half anytime.  I feel like they're doing a challenge a month now and that's too quick for me!  I like to fill up a large box because it's much more economical.  It only costs about 5 cents per card to mail a large box but the few times I've mailed a small package it costs as much as 20 cents per card.  I'd rather ship a large box because I could definitely put that extra 10 or 15 cents per card into some quality cardstock!  I might hit up the local printing shop later this month to see what they have on hand.  I want to use up my GP 110 before I go because I know I won't want to use it once I find something better.  I'm down to about 50 sheets, so we're nearing the end!  Anyway, I digressed from the challenge details.  Boxes are due at the end of the month to any shipper with half fall/winter and half anytime cards.

I made six of these cards using old DCWV paper from the 2009 Fall stack.  The circle was stamped with leaves from SU All Natural (still a favorite set of mine even though it's long retired) and a sentiment by Studio G (from Walmart last year).  The burgundy strip is punched with a Fiskars border punch and tied up with Offray ribbon.

I'm grateful that today is my last day of Common Core training for this summer.  I had no idea how long of a commitment I got myself into last summer when I agreed to attend the training.  I'm also grateful that I get to see my parents and most of my extended family this weekend.  What are you grateful for today?

OWH Sketch #69

I wrangled some scraps into this card, based off OWH Sketch #69.  The main paper is DCWV and the cardstock is from my stash.  The tree embellishment is from Walmart about two years ago.  The ribbon is by JoAnn.

I won't send this card in to OWH for a while since it is a fall theme.  The elements just came together, so I went for it, even if it's off-season.

First Copic Card

Not feeling the pink/red/hearts Valentine mojo tonight, I opted to make a general love card with earthy papers and a squirrel stamp and sentiment from Hampton Arts. It ended up a fall card, a bit by accident, but I still like it.

It's the first card I colored entirely with Copics! The squirrel is colored with W3, the acorn with E31, and the sentiment with Y17. I started small. I'm working on shading but the colors I have in my collection don't all have blending buddies yet. Perhaps I'll be able to add more soon! Also, I need to get an inkpad that doesn't smear. SU Basic Black is all kinds of runny on this. :(

Hambo Hoedown #42

Here's Hambo's little digi- Wee Henry with Turkey! He was a freebie for those of us who played along in last week's challenge. I just got this one in on time. I forgot about it yesterday when I was crafting and saw the digis today and knew I had to get cracking so as to keep up and not miss a week! I paired the digi up with some DCWV cardstock and patterned paper and some We R Memory Keepers twine. It's a simple card, in keeping with my usual style. :)

Hambo Hoedown #40

Isn't this snail rake digi from Hambo cute? Join the Hambo Hoedown and you can get a free digital image each week you follow the requirements. I've done it for about two months now, and I've had a great time each week waiting to see what the new image and challenge will be.

This week the challenge was to use a tutorial from Splitcoast Stampers in making the card. I chose the shaving cream paper tutorial.

OWH VCMP #10

This card challenge wanted us to use a particular set of autumn colors- brown, off white, rust, and light blue. I haven't ever done a color challenge, as best as I can remember, so this was a good exercise for me. Color is often my challenge, so I should try more of these!

I used some $1 clear stamps that were probably 50 cents on clearance. I just took the sheets of plain cardstock from my stash that best matched the color challenge and went from there. :)

I'm mere minutes too late to post to the MWT, bummer!
