Someone I know is having a baby. The mom and dad want to be surprised by the baby's gender which is awesome! It makes creating a baby card all the more challenging. I don't have much in the yellow and green pastel department, but I found a stack of Heidi Grace papers in pastels that suited the project. I had to supplement with a couple of We R Memory Keepers papers to get the blue in there, especially since most people think this baby is going to be a boy.
This card is 6x6. The mats are each 3/16 smaller. The quilt panel is made from 16 squares that each measure 1.25." I wanted to pierce the squares but I don't have a piercing guide and I knew this would look awful if I did it by sight. As is, it's a bit -- er-- handmade looking. Go figure. Here's my hint for doing this easily. I have a Martha Stewart punch around the page set (Cherish) that has a row of small holes. I punched some cardstock with the punch and laid it on top of my project. It worked as a perfect guide. I might try punching a transparency sheet to have one that I can both see through and keep for future projects.
Atop the quilt, I used We R floss and small clothespins to make a clothesline. The letters are cut with a Cuttlebug die called "Baby Face" (no, I'm not kidding- that's the name) and layered on 1" white circles.
I honestly think this is the best card I've ever made. So much detail and so many layers! Can't wait to meet the new little one! :)
