MFT Let's Picnic

My Favorite Things is a generous supporter of Operation Write Home.  One of their lines of stamps is called "Who's that Guy/Girl?" and features characters with their faces either cut off or obscured by an object.  They're a versatile way to add to your stamp collection because they could resemble almost anyone you know and they come with numerous sentiments.

Earlier this week, Allison posted some cards using this We R Memory Keepers Fiesta paper which reminded me that I'd barely touched my stack, so I decided to dive into it this week.

Hey Chickadee

This Lawn Fawn stamp set reminds me of my former coworker who always called me, "chickadee." I wanted to make a CAS card but I don't think this is really CAS.  I paper pieced the Lawn Fawn Critters on the Farm stamps using Lawn Fawn Bright Side papers.  The red details on the hen were colored with Copic R24.

OWH Sketch 112

I used OWH Sketch #112 to creare this card for Unity Friends with Flair.  The stamps and papers are from the prize I won on a recent Unity Chick Challenge thanks to JenMarie.  I had fun paper piecing the owl and adding Glossy Accents to the eyes.

The stamp set is an itty bitty called Wise Guy.  The paper is Cosmo Cricket.

Sherry's Challenge- Paper Piecing

Sherry hosted the first VCMP Rebel Challenge.  She challenged us to use paper piecing.  I think the best images I have for paper piecing are my Unity Stamp Company stamps.  They have thick lines so I don't have to be perfect with my cuts and they are sized large enough that I can cut out the pieces and glue them down without going nuts.

I chose to paper piece this baby carriage.  This card actually won't go to Operation Write Home.  There's not a need for baby cards as the shippers never know which units might have people who need to send a baby card.  Instead, this card will go with a shower gift to one of my many friends and family members who are expecting.  It's babypalooza around here!

I added some punched wheels with Making Memories brads, sponged clouds behind the carriage, a little Offray ribbon, and some Spellbinders cuts to make this all come together.

Thanks for hosting a fun challenge, Sherry!   And thanks to anyone visiting!  :)

Rain or Shine

Unity Card #2 for the day. This company is quickly becoming my favorite. The stamps stamp SO nicely every single time and are available in a variety of styles. The sizes are nice for cards, too.

This card marks my third (fourth?) attempt at paper piecing, but the first I actually like. I chose this stamp because I thought it would be a good one to piece as it has fairly simple lines to cut and well defined areas with which to use a variety of papers. The papers I chose are from an old DCWV spring stack and coordinated with some textured coral Bazzill. I hand cut the cloud around the image and based it all off of an OWH sketch, #6.

Cards shipped to OWH in 2012: none thus far, but my box is filling up nicely!

Babies, babies, everywhere!

I'm in the middle of about a six week period of baby fever. One of my cousins had a little boy, Carter, on the 8th. A good friend and coworker had a daughter, Tanis, on Thursday. Another cousin and a friend are both expecting sons within about a month. Actually, the friend is due today. All these babies mean lots of cards!

I whipped up this cutie patootie today for my coworker. We're giving her diapers and wipes since it's her third child and she's pretty well set up with the exception of the consumables. I think the stamp is a riot. I hope she'll get a good laugh from it!

Also of note- this was my first paper piecing. I started with a super, super simple stamp and just one piece to attach. It's cute, so I might do more.
