Sketch

I used this week's sketch to make a graduation card for one of my first students. My first class graduated this week!
And, a gift for the grad:

It contains M&Ms, Snickers, microwave popcorn, Ramen, applesauce, easy mac, animal crackers, apple juice, granola bars, raisins, chocolate covered pretzels, and disposable flatware.  I think I forgot a couple of items, too, since I packed it up a week ago.  I bought the groceries largely at Dollar Tree  and spent about $20-25 including the container.  The smaller packages at DT seemed like a good idea for a college girl and allowed me to offer more variety in one compact container.

I was inspired by the exam week care packages that parents could order through the Women's League at my college.  Mom only ordered me one once (the rest of the time she made me a specialized one with my favorites), but I remember being impressed by the variety of snacks included.  They filled a plastic shoe box with individual serving sizes of about 20 snacks.

Pamela's World of Scrap/ODBD October

I just learned about Pamela's World of Scrap and her wonderful sketches from OWHer Robin today.   There are five great sketches posted and we're challenged to use them for World Card Making Day.  Ok, here I go!

Sketch #1:

Sketch #2 (I love this sketch!):
This card also qualifies for October's Our Daily Bread Designs challenge on the Operation Write Home blog.  As always, 50 or more cards posted with the monthly theme will cause ODBD to donate the funds to ship two boxes of cards to our heroes.  That donation is always important, but especially so at this time of year when Christmas cards are flying overseas at a steady pace.  Please go over to the OWH blog to link up your card featuring circles.

When I get a chance to try the other three sketches that Pamela shared, I'll add to this post.  :)

Unity Chick Challenge #38 and FWF

I'm back with a little Unity fun.  I decided to make a baby card with Chick Challenge Sketch #38 for one of the many showers I'm attending this summer.  Lots of friends and family members are expecting- it's so exciting!

The yellow "baby" text is a transparency overlay by Colorbok that I layered on top of the paper pieced stroller.  I decided to use a photo corner shape instead of the semicircles in the sketch and I created some of them with paper punches by EK and Fiskars.  I added some large American Crafts eyelets and tied up the brown satin ribbon from JoAnn into a simple knot.

When I visited the Unity blog today, I was super excited to see that my last CC card was chosen by the Chicks and I get to display the featured peeps badge.  As soon as I figure out how to grab it, it will be in my sidebar!  :-D

Deja Vu or something like it

So, I was working tonight on stamping and tucking the cards I've recently made for OWH. These cards date back to about mid-October or perhaps a bit earlier. I stopped suddenly when I saw
this card, first posted in this post:

It's just like Sketch 102. What are the odds? I hadn't gotten to making anything for this sketch yet. I tried, but the card I worked on took another direction. I still want to make another card for the sketch, but I couldn't believe the coincidence!
