It's practically the end of September, so the OWH birthday challenges are almost over. I'm bummed about that because I've gotten to know a lot of companies over this month of daily challenges, have pushed my limits to do new things, and have made plenty of great cards for OWH.
Today's challenge from Tonic asked us to use Tonic punches to make a fall card. Good thing I bought a couple over the summer! I have a small square and an egg shape. See the punch in the photo? I love how they look like little sneakers, at least to me. I used about 14 of the egg punch to make this cute flower in colors that remind me of fall leaves. Apologies for the crummy picture. I'm getting my Ott Light this weekend, so I might finally get decent photos!
Punch: Tonic
Paper: general cardstock and shaving cream paper I made
Stamp: Hampton Arts sentiment, flower stem from SU Simple Sketches
Other: Circle Nestabilities, button

Sketch #88
Thanks to a fog delay, I had a bit of extra time before I had to leave for work this morning. I used it to whip up this thank you card using the awesome Americana papers K & Co sold this summer. They coordinate so well and have great unisex designs. The stamp is from Studio G's Walmart line. The stars are two punches from EK. The brads are from JoAnn.
I followed Sketch #88 from OWH, but I turned the design 90 degrees on the card. I didn't like the border of empty space I got from following the sketch exactly.

Combo Challenge for gel-a-tins and Sassy Studio Designs
Gel-a-tins challenged us to use their sketch to create a card for fall. I made a "Hall-no-ween" card (a Halloween image with a generic sentiment so it could be used at other times) with the sketch. I used an image from Sassy Studio Designs and played along with their challenge to make a card with either a "thinking of you" or "miss you" sentiment. Both of these challenges celebrate Operation Write Home's birthday. :)
SPECIAL NOTE: OWH's Halloween deadline has passed. They do not want additional Halloween cards for this year. I will probably hold onto this one for next year. Now would be a good time to work on Christmas cards which are due on Oct. 31. :)
Materials:
Image: Sassy Studio Designs digi
Sentiment: Studio G
Papers from We R Memory keepers (green), K & Co (purple), and unknown (orange)
Tools: star border punch from EK (American Girls brand), tag corner punch from SU, one inch circle punch from EK, 1.25 inch circle punch from Marvy
Ribbon by Offray

Using my We R prize!
You know that feeling when you look at a card and think, "Wow, that's the best one I've made in a long time," well, I had that feeling when I finished up this card. The papers are from a prize I won from We R Memory Keepers on their Facebook page in the summer. I liked the Princess Royale papers but had a hard time picturing them as anything but spring, until I had the idea to ink the edges with brown. By choosing papers without pink or lavender and darkening the edges, this card takes on an autumnal feel. :)
I used this sketch from OWH, but I turned it on end.
I also used a set of Scrappy Cat stamps (Bandanarama) for the first time. My mom bought me a pile of their stamps when she went to Ohio in May and many of them are not my typical picks (but were very cheap), so I'm working my way through them as I can. The "you" is from Heidi Grace, I think, but the package is gone so I can't be sure. Other tools were a heart punch by Marvy, border punch by Fiskars, and tag corner punch by SU.
Thanks for stopping by!

CASE of Charlise's card
OWH's challenge for today is to CASE another cardmaker, Charlise. I chose this card with many squares and found it to be quite labor intensive!
Here's my version of the card. I used Bazzill and Wausau cardstock, punches from EK Success, ribbon by Offray, and brads from JoAnn. I kept making my squares smaller, but never got them small enough to fit the sentiment at the bottom of the card, so I moved it up a bit. Otherwise, this is a pretty close CASE.
At the very last minute, I ended up supervising the lobby at the high school during the volleyball tournament today and so I colored a few images while I was there. It was a good way to pass the time because there wasn't much to do except watch TV on my laptop and color. :)
