A busy week of craftiness

School wore me out this week and a couple of nights all I wanted to do when I got home was relax. In my world, that means either crafting, watching old TV episodes on Netflix, or both.

In the past couple of weeks, I've been rediscovering old paper packs and trying to use the coordinating elements to make cards to take some of the guess work out of paper choice. On Tuesday, I dug a patriotic scrapbook kit by Colorbok out of my stash. I'd purchased it during the summer for $1.99 at Tuesday Morning with the intention of making some OWH cards. I decided I would work until I'd used up the entire kit (or what I could use up). Over the next three nights, the 8 sheets of 12x12 paper, sheet of stickers, sheet of punch-outs, and two tags turned into 23 cards with the help of some K&Co embellishments and additional cardstock from my stash. I still have an entire chipboard alphabet, most of the stickers, and a few punch-outs left, but the remaining paper was too insignificant to save. Here's a picture of the pile of cards. I used a variety of OWH sketches to complete these cards and will detail some of them in later posts.

When the patriotic kit was finished, I needed something else to work on, so I grabbed the Green Tea stack by DCWV. I think it's my favorite stack ever! I worked on this stack tonight and made another 15 cards with a few sheets from the stack. Here's a picture of that pile of cards.

With the end of the war in Iraq, OWH thought there would be a bit less demand for cards, but as it turns out, we cardmakers aren't keeping pace with our heroes' desire to write home. If you have handmade cards sitting around waiting, get them on their way to OWH and if you haven't made any recently, consider making just a few cards to send in. Upcoming holidays are Easter, Mother's Day, and Father's Day. Any occasion cards are needed year-round.

Cards shipped to OWH in 2012: none thus far, but my box is filling up nicely!
