OWH Sketch #157

I really liked today's Sunday Sketch, created by Katie, so it was easy to slip into the craft room for a few minutes to make this card.  I made some small changes, like making an extra border around the image and making the stripes wider.  It's easy to fall into the trap of thinking that you must follow a sketch to the letter.  If you allow yourself the freedom to make some tweaks, you will find that it's easier to use the sketch each week, especially if your supplies are limited.  Here, I left off the ribbon because it would have cut across my image in a strange way.  I compensated for that by adding a sentiment circle.  Don't forget to have fun with the sketches and put your own stamp on them!  (Pun intended.)

The soldier stamp is by Our Daily Bread Designs and is one I purchased after I won a gift certificate a few months ago.  I love all of the details and the fact that it looks just as good plain as colored.

Go ahead and post your own version of Sketch #157!

  6. What a touching card you made for this week's sketch. Love the patriotic papers and that stamp is wonderful. The circle for the sentiment is a perfect touch, because I agree, a ribbon across this image just wouldn't look right. Great job!

  7. I really like the extra border framing the image. It makes it an even stronger focal point. Love that stamp image so much I may have to just give in and buy it. Great paper choices too. I agree about "tweaking" s sketch to work with the images/supplies you have.

  12. Awesome card Kathryn! Love the extra border and your choices of DSP. I also love how your tweaked the sketch to make it work for you. And you made a great point about tweaking. The sketch is a starting point. Your card proves you can tweak away and still keep the elements of the sketch. Nice job... and thanks so much for playing!
