Today's an exciting day for me. I just made my 1,000th card for Operation Write Home and I couldn't be more thrilled! I found this organization completely by chance while I was surfing the internet back in December. I no longer remember where I saw it mentioned but I really wish I could give credit to the person who provided the link.
Here's the milestone card! The inside says "When I see you, my eyes turn into little hearts." I love those kid quotes from Inkadinkado!
This card was inspired by today's card share on Facebook. Sandy does a great job of presenting a new card every day based on that month's chosen theme. It's inspiring to see the variety of designs and exciting to think your card might be there one day. :)
I used today's card share to design some kits for my card party that I'll host next month. I knew right away this one would be simple enough to kit quickly and for my guests to assemble without much hassle. I started with this purple version and then followed up with the one shown above. I used a neglected fleur-de-lis punch on this regal-colored card. The punch has always been somewhat of a mystery because it punches out the negative and the positive stays attached to the paper you punched from. (I hope I referenced negative and positive correctly...not sure.)
I also took a moment today to make a card for the Midweek Throwdown. I don't always do challenges as they make me feel pigeonholed as opposed to creative, but I gave it a try. The challenge was a dog card. I have a stamp somewhere, but decided to make a punch critter instead. He's OK, but I think his body reminds me more of a bear than a dog. I guess dog cards just aren't my thing.
While I was at it, I also made another Christmas tree card. I'm getting close to kitting this one, but I think I will do one more revision before I make the kit. I want to see what it looks like with a different embossing folder, perhaps the swirls.
That's all for now. So happy to be celebrating 1000 cards for OWH. :)
